Taking Refuge
In the Buddhist tradition, the first expression of commitment to the journey of awakening is called “taking refuge.” This selection of talks from over the past decade communicate a profound view of what taking refuge really means for the modern dharma practitioner.
Themes explored include: the history of refuge, the importance of renunciation, the meaning of the Three Jewels, the teacher-student relationship, the place of refuge in the modern world, the outer and inner aspects of refuge, and the importance of trusting our own individual process of discovery. Ultimately, refuge is a commitment to the transformative unfolding of reality of our unique lives.
